Cops with COVID-19 being neglected? Here’s the response of Sinas
NEGLECTED COPS? – PNP chief Police General Debold Sinas reacted to claims that police personnel who are positive for COVID-19 are not being taken care of.
“It is not true and totally unfair to speculate that our policemen are not being taken [care] of,” he said.
According to him, the Philippine National Police has opened up more spaces at Camp Crame to accommodate cops hit by a coronavirus.
He cited that the entire compound of the Kiangan Billeting and Transient Quarters was “reconfigured” into quarantine facilities. It has a concurrent 55-bed capacity.
Earlier, the Directorate for Logistics turned over an additional 57 beds in the same compound, placed on the tennis court.
On the other hand, 40 more beds were be added at the Tae Kwon Do Gym.
Both will cater to cops who are asymptomatic.
Sinas said that those who tested positive for COVID-19; whether symptomatic or asymptomatic are assigned to their respective quarantine facilities.
Then, they will be individually transferred using a PNP ambulance to either the Philippine International Convention Center, ULTRA, Nice Hotel, or LGU facilities in Metro Manila and Clark, Pampanga.
On the other hand, those who are symptomatic are being admitted to the National Capital Region Police Office and the South Police District facilities.
