COVID-19 vaccines from AstraZeneca would arrive in the Philippines on Thursday, according to Senator Go.
Senator Christopher “Bong” Go on Wednesday said that the Philippines was expected to receive 487,200 AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine doses on Thursday evening.
Senator Go told reporters in an interview that the Philippines had received a notice that the COVID-19 vaccines from AstraZeneca were finally arriving on Thursday evening.
The AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines were supposed to be delivered in the Philippines on Monday, but it was delayed because of limited supply.
“Yung hindi natuloy na pagpapadala ng bakuna nung Lunes mula sa AstraZeneca ay meron nang liham na darating na sana bukas ng gabi yung 487,200 doses,” Senator Go said.
Senator Go also said that he and President Rodrigo Duterte would personally welcome the arrival of the said vaccines at Villamor airbase at 7:30 in the evening.

The Philippines had received 600,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses from China’s Sinovac Biotech last Sunday.
In addition, the said vaccines were administered the following day, with Philippine General Hospital (PGH) director Dr. Gerardo Legaspi being the country’s first official recipient of a COVID-19 vaccine.
The Philippines had targeted to vaccinate 50 to 70 million individuals within the year.
Earlier, Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said that President Duterte would personally receive the arrival of COVID-19 vaccine doses from AstraZeneca.
