Push For Duterte VP Run “Just A Draft” Says Martinez
DUTERTE FOR VP – Recently, a resolution to push President Duterte to run for Vice President circulated through news outlets.
As a response, PDP-Laban President Manny Pacquiao urged his party mates to prioritize addressing the coronavirus pandemic first. Meanwhile, Deputy House Speaker Eric Martinez said the resolution was simply a “draft”.
According to an article from Inquirer, Martinez said:
“Please do not be mistaken, this is a draft resolution. Hindi pa adopted resolution by the entire party”.
Furthermore, he explained that Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, vice-chairman of PDP-Laban is “going around the country consulting with PDP members” about the resolution.
However, some members of the party felt surprised after learning such a resolution was being drafted without their knowledge. As such, the party’s president Manny Pacquiao expressed dismay saying that the resolution was “unauthorized”.
“Hindi ko alam yun [resolution]. Hindi [ko] yun sanctioned bilang acting president ng partido. Hindi po yun authorized dahil ang focus po talaga ng partido ngayon e paano ba tayo makatulong ng mga tao na nagugutom ngayon”, he added.
