DOLE Provides Guidelines For Private Firm Employees Vaccination

VACCINATION SHOULD BE FREE – According to the Department of Labor and Employment, employees working at a private firm should get free vaccinations against COVID-19.

Recently, DOLE announced Advisory No. 3 Series of 2021. This new advisory provides a guideline for private sectors aiming to vaccinate their employees.

Furthermore, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said private firms may procure vaccines, supplies, and other services for their inoculation programs. Along with this, Bello stated that firms may:

“seek the support of the appropriate government agencies in the procurement, storage, transport, deployment, and administration of COVID-19 vaccines

However, the advisory emphasized that no cost of vaccination in the workplace should be charged directly or indirectly to the employees. Additionally, employees who refuse vaccination shouldn’t be discriminated against.

This includes discrimination that could affect tenure, promotion, pay, training, and termination from employment.

Meanwhile, Labor Undersecretary Maria Teresita Cucueco explained that the vaccination should never be a measure of termination or promotion.

According to an article from ABS-CBN, she said:

“Ang sinasabi i-encourage na mapabakunahan ang empleyado pero kung hindi ho sila papayag hindi po ito basehan ng termination, promotion, at iba pa nga hindi papasukin sa loob ng kompanya. Discriminatory na po iyan, hindi po ‘yan sang-ayon sa mga issuance ng DOLE
