In his pre-recorded weekly nation address on Monday, President Duterte again unleashed a series of tirades against Vice President Robredo for encouraging him to be among the first to get vaccinated.

The President accused Robredo of “baiting” him since she suspected him to have already gotten a COVID-19 shot along with military personnel last 2020.

Now, when I get vaccinated here in Malacañang, I want you there. I will tell them that, since I’m old, I will only get half the dose and the other half for you to add protection to your good health,” President Duterte said in Filipino.

The President reiterated that he couldn’t yet receive the available COVID-19 vaccine, CoronaVac (which was manufactured by Chinese vaccine manufacturer Sinovac BioTech), since it wasn’t recommended for someone his age.

China’s Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine should only be administered to clinically-healthy individuals aged 18 to 59 years old. President Duterte will turn 77 this month.

The President earlier said that he’s waiting for the clearance of his doctor on which COVID-19 vaccine brand to get, daring Vice President Robredo to get inoculated first since she’s more qualified to receive the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine.

President Duterte also accused Vice President Robredo of wanting to be “relevant” after she joined calls for further assessment for China’s Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine.

Sometimes you take an idiotic stance. They deserve the best,” President Duterte said as he’s referring to the accusation that the Philippine government was insisting on giving Sinovac’s CoronaVac despite its lower efficacy compared to other COVID-19 vaccines.
