Grammy Awards Down 53% Versus Last Year’s Show

GRAMMY AWARDS DOWN 53% IN RATINGS – The biggest night in music wasn’t even the biggest night in music when it came to ratings.

Surely, the music scene leading up to the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards was nothing less of spectacular. Along with this, 2021’s Grammys were had performances from the biggest names in the industry like Harry Styles, Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish, and Korean powerhouse, BTS.

However, this Grammys became the lowest-rated Grammys in history based on the early numbers. According to a report from Variety, the show got an average of 8.8 million viewers.

Meanwhile, 2020’s show drew a rating of 5.4 in the key demographic range for adults aged 18-49. With this, the 62nd Grammy Awards got an average of 18.7 million. Furthermore, if we went back a year prior, the 2019 Grammy Awards had a rating of 5.6 and an averaging viewing number of 19.9 million.

However, the 2021 Grammy was still the highest-rated broadcase of the night. Additionally, it became the most streamed Grammy Award with 88% more live streams versus 2020.

Obviously, the shift to a more modern platform than TV attributed to the lowered rating. Furthermore, the addition of BTS and its massive following also contributed to the surge in live streams.
