Experts Want 2 Week MECQ Within NCR Plus Bubble

EXPERTS WANT 2 WEEK MECQ – As the surge of COVID-19 cases continues, the OCTA research group calls out for a two-week modified enhanced community quarantine.

According to experts in OCTA, the current surge has overwhelmed health care facilities within the NCR Plus Bubble. As such, they wanted the government to consider implementing a two-week MECQ.

Experts Want 2 Week MECQ As Surge Overwhelms Health Centers

Based on an article from ABS-CBN, Ranjit Rye a member of OCTA said the government needs to lessen the utilization rate to “save lives and livelihoods”. However, they wanted transportation to still be allowed with poor families given aid.

As per the article, Rye said:

Right now, OCTA’s projection continues to be accurate. We are now witnessing longer queues for admissions, and the longer these patients wait for proper medical attention, the higher their risk of succumbing to this infection

Previously, the government has become adamant that imposing another MECQ may lead to an economical collapse. However, OCTA emphasized that the economy can only truly restart once transmission rates have been lowered.

But, according to the Philippines’ trade secretary, the reopening of the economy isn’t the reason that the cases are surging. According to him, it was secret parties where health protocols were being ignored that caused the spike.
