Teenager Fell Into 10-Month Coma & About To Wake Up To New World
COMATOSE TEEN WAKES UP TO PANDEMIC – A British teenager who fell into a 10-month long coma is about to wake up in the middle of the pandemic.
The world has been struggling to contain the new coronavirus, COVID-19 for over a year. Luckily, there are now vaccines available to the public.
Still, everything we have known and everything we did before has drastically changed. Unfortunately for one teen, he has to take it all in immediately.
On March 1, 2020, a car struck a 19-year-old boy in Staffordshire, central England. Back then, Wuhan China had just reported 23 cases of a new “mystery virus”. Back then, world leaders were shrugging off the virus as “just a flu”.
But, the virus spread quickly, hopping from one country to another and forcing lockdowns across the globe. The new coronavirus was so infectious that the comatose teen was even infected while he was unconscious.
According to an article from CNN, the teenager was known as Joseph Flavill. During an interview, his family was asked how they would describe the events happening.
“I think it’s going to be a shock. We’re all still processing it — I’m not sure you can ever actually describe how this pandemic feels“, his Aunt, Kate Yarbo said. “How scary is it to (have nurses) in PPE when you don’t understand what’s going on?”, she added.
For the past weeks, Flavill has shown significant signs of progress. As per the article, the teenager started to smile and recognize certain sounds from recorded events.
Flavill will be among the very few people in the world who will need to learn about the pandemic through a secondhand perspective.
