The Philippines ranked 10th in Ookla’s Median 5G Download Speed among APEC countries
The Philippines had secured the 10th spot among APEC countries in Ookla Speedtest Intelligence‘s Median 5G Download Speed ranking.
According to Ookla, the Philippines had recorded a median download speed on 5G at 182.50 Mbps (megabits per second).
Globe Telecom said that the recognition was a “huge feat” for an emerging market economy, which sought to have a first-world network infrastructure.
In addition, Globe Telecom claimed that it had been “a steady supporter” of the current administration’s target to further boost the local connectivity.

Ranking among APEC countries, according to Globe Telecom’s President and Chief Executive Officer Ernest Cu, was a huge feat and showed that their investments and network improvements were bearing fruit.
Ernest also said that they’ll continue to make 4G and 5G as pervasive as possible in order to meet the demand of their customers for better connectivity.
To recall, Globe Telecom was the first telco carrier to introduce 5G services to its home subscribers last July 2019 and expanded its commercial service to mobile users.
Last month, Globe Telecom cemented its position in the local 5G space as its network currently covered 80% of Metro Manila. According to Globe Telecom, the 5G network delivered higher bandwidth, faster speeds, and more stable internet connections compared to the 4G network.
Globe Telecom’s VP for Postpaid and International Coco Domingo earlier said that the local market would continue to witness more 5G-compatible devices.
