An OFW Was Fired After She Was Caught TikToking

OFW FIRED AFTER CAUGHT TIKTOKING – The viral video sharing app, TikTok caused an Overseas Filipino Worker her job in Saudi Arabia.

Among the favorite past times today is using TikTok. Everybody does it from your sister, brother, mother, or even grandparents. However, an OFW named JM soon found out that using TikTok had negative consequences.

According to an article from Manila Bulletin, the OFW was fired after she was found performing a TikTok while wearing her company uniform. As such, the OFW went to the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLOs) in Jeddah to get help for her case.

JM said there was nothing wrong with her video. She emphasized that she didn’t do anything obscene or disrespectful. But, she did admit that it was wrong to use TikTok while wearing her company uniform.

Following this, her agency called her to report to her office and ordered her to remove the video she uploaded. Along with this, she was also banned from going to the office. Sadly, Afterward, she was fired from her job.

Based on an article from Manila Bulletin, she said:

“Monday po mga before 10 or 9 a.m. ay nakaabot po agad sa office [ang Tiktok video]. Tinawagan po ako nung manager ko na burahin ko yung Tiktok ko na sayaw pagkatapos po pumunta po yung investigator sa store tapos hindi na ako nakapasok. Itong Thursday ay nalaman ko na terminated na ako

Meanwhile, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Welfare Officer James Mendiola wanted OFWs to be careful of what they post on social media. “We would like to remind our OFWs in Saudi Arabia that although we work only during working hours we are part of their company 24 hours a day“, he explained.

Furthermore, he noted that most employers are very keen and sensitive to their public image. Along with this, social media posts shared to the public must also be kept in line with the culture and traditions of the kingdom, he added.

Sa kagustuhang may ma-share sa social-media eto naging kapalit. Tigbak na sa trabaho pinag-piyestahan pa sa social – media. Napansin nga sa social-media pero pinagtatawanan naman.
