Instagram was eyeing to stop its users from sharing posts from the feed to Stories.
Instagram was currently eyeing a major change to how the Stories feature works — by removing the option to share posts from the feed to Stories for several users as part of a new test.
In a report on Social Media Today (via The Verge), Instagram users had been receiving notifications about the app’s upcoming change that disabled the option to re-share a post from the regular feed to Stories.
Instagram claimed that several people didn’t like to see the same content from the feed being shared in Stories as every feature was created for a different purpose.

With this, a banner appeared at the top of the app with a message for users who had been chosen to take part in the test.
“We hear from our community that they want to see fewer posts in Stories. During this test, you won’t be able to add a feed post to your Story,” the banner reads.
Instagram told the report that the tests were being conducted “within a few selected regions,” while also saying that there’s “no plan to roll this change out more broadly at this stage.”
It wasn’t clear how Instagram determined which users from which regions would lose access to the re-share option.
