Former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief General Camilo Cascolan appointed as undersecretary at the office of President Rodrigo Duterte.
According to Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque, his appointment paper as undersecretary at the Office of the President was signed by Duterte himself last Monday, February 22.
In a televised press briefing, he said: “Welcome aboard, Usec Cascolan.”
Before his appointment as undersecretary, Cascolan served as the former chief of the Philippine National Police.
However, after serving the police force for two months, he retired when he reached the mandatory retirement age of 56 in November.
In his short stint as the PNP chief, Cascolan said that a 9-point action agenda has been established under his directives.
He was also among those who crafted the PNP’s flagship program in the war against illegal drugs known as “Oplan Double Barrel” which included the controversial program “Oplan Tokhang.”
Incumbent PNP chief Gen. Debold Sinas later succeeded Cascolan.
