DOH: FDA has not approved any self-administered COVID-19 test kits.
The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday said that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not approved any self-administered test kits for COVID-19.
In a statement, the Department of Health said that the Philippines’ Food and Drug Administration has not approved any self-administered test kits to date.
“The DOH cautions the public against sellers who claim to sell such products and strongly urges the immediate reporting of such to the FDA,” the DOH said.
In addition, the Department of Health also reiterated that prevention of coronavirus infection through stringent adherence to minimum public health standards remained to be the best measure against the spread of coronavirus disease while testing was a crucial measure in the COVID-19 response.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health released an advisory on falsified swab tests for COVID-19.
In an advisory, the Department of Health reminded and encouraged the public to get tested only in licensed COVID-19 testing laboratories following the recent reports on falsified RT-PCR results.
With this, the Department of Health provided some ways to verify if a COVID-19 testing laboratory was licensed for RT-PCR testing.
The public can either visit the DOH website for the complete list of licensed COVID-19 testing laboratories through this link, check the daily-updated list of the licensed COVID-19 testing laboratories in BEAT COVID-19 Situational Report uploaded on the official Facebook page of DOH, consult with or seek advice from local health centers and Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Units health care provider in case they need to get tested, or ask for a copy of their readily-available license specific for RT-PCR testing valid until December 31, 2021 only and usually posted in their vicinity if they have doubts on their results or the authenticity of the COVID-19 testing laboratory.
