COVID-19 vaccination of healthcare workers in the Philippines will start on February 15, 2021.
The Philippines had targeted to start COVID-19 vaccination of frontline healthcare workers next Tuesday, February 15, 2021.
This, as the Philippine government aimed to vaccinate the sector’s 1.4 million individuals in a month.
On Sunday, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque Jr. said that the incoming initial batch of COVID-19 vaccines from Pfizer-BioNTech totaling 117,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses would cover workers included in the initial master list from hospitals across the Philippines that will receive the first batch of vaccines.
In a report on GMA Network’s “24 Oras Weekend”, the COVID-19 vaccination of frontline healthcare workers was expected to start on February 15.
Among the first hospitals that would receive the COVID-19 vaccines were the Philippine General Hospital with 5,000 healthcare workers listed, along with the East Avenue Medical Center and the Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 117,000 vaccine doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine would arrive in the Philippines in the second or third week of February 2021 under the COVAX Facility.
Some 5.5 million to 9.2 million AstraZeneca-Oxford COVID-19 vaccine doses were expected to arrive in the country by the latter part of February or early March.
The Philippines had targeted to inoculate some 50 million to 70 million Filipinos from COVID-19 this year, with the country allocating some PHP 73.2 billion for the procurement of COVID-19 vaccines.
Only Pfizer-BioNTech and AstraZeneca-Oxford have secured the emergency use authority (EUA) in the country as of this writing.
