President Duterte and other government officials had registered for the National ID System
President Rodrigo Duterte and other government officials had registered for the National Identification (ID) System at the Malacañang Palace.
This, as they had their biometric information taken during the registration process for the National Identification System that was administered by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) last Thursday evening.
As seen in photos released by Malacañang, it showed that President Duterte, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, and Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea underwent the registration process.
The registration process was administered by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and President Duterte also gave a thumbs-up as he posed for a photo with a card showing the physical look of the ID.

It was last 2018 when President Duterte signed into law the National ID System Act, which sought the creation of an official ID card for all citizens in the Philippines.
The said law also sought to integrate, harmonize, and interconnect the countless and redundant government identification cards as well.
The identification card will include the following: Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Act number, facial image, full name, date of birth, gender, blood type, and address of the concerned individual.
Meanwhile, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said last September 2020 that majority of Filipinos should have the national identification card by 2022.
By October 2020, the Philippine Statistics Authority said that the public can choose whether or not to apply for a national identification card, although having one was encouraged.
