Nuezca Not Guilty Plea: What’s Next For Nuezca?
NUEZCA NOT GUILTY PLEA – Recently, Police Master Sergeant Jonel Nuezca went viral again for pleading “not guilty” to the chargers of killing a mother and son in Paniqui, Tarlac.
Last year, Nuezca went viral after he was filmed shooting Sonya and Frank Gregorio dead in broad daylight. However, despite the clear evidence against him, Nuezca asserted that he wasn’t at fault for their deaths.
According to an article from One News, police director Brig. Gen. Valeriano said “The arraignment and pre-trial was conducted last Jan. 7, 2021 at 8:30 a.m. (…) wherein the accused (M/Sgt.) Nuezca pleaded not guilty“.
Meanwhile, following his not guilty plea, netizens fear that Nuezca may just be dismissed from the PNP. One netizen explained that Nuezca and his camp might be confident that there’s a chance he would get away with this.
Likewise, lawyers on social media pointed out that even with the viral video, the law allows Nuezca a right to give a defense. But what does the PNP say about this not guilty plea?
Earlier, the PNP already vowed to dismiss Nuezca in less than a month. Also, the PNP said they’d discontinue his salary and his benefits. Furthermore, Nuezca can’t hold any other government post.
Additionally, the Malacañang said Nuezca won’t have a way out of his situation. Moreover, Relatives of the Gregorios who witnessed the incident said they would testify against the killer cop.
Because of the Not Guilty Plea, Nuezca’s case would go to trial on February 4. Meanwhile, PNP Chief Debold Sinas previously said that the resolution to Nuezca’s administrative case would be due today, January 11.
