NBI Death Investigation Division To Handle Christine Dacera Case
DACERA CASE INVESTIGATIONS – The death of flight attendant Christine Dacera has been shrouded in mystery.
Despite PNP Chief Debold Sinas’ claims that the case is “solved”, the PNP itself admits that it lacks evidence on the case. Furthermore, following autopsy reports on Dacera’s body, the family still isn’t convinced of the cause of death.
As such, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)-Death Investigation Division was assigned to handle the case of Dacera’s death.
According to an article from Manila Bulletin, NBI Officer-in-Charge Director Eric Distor assigned the case to the NBI-DID headed by Deputy Director Vicente de Guzman III.
Last Friday, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra directed the NBI to investigate the death of Christine Dacera. This is to find out if evidence warrants appropriate charges against the suspects in the Dacera case.
“With all due respect, the initial investigation by the Makati police was not thorough enough, prompting the inquest prosecutors to refer the case for further investigation and release the respondents in the meantime“, said Guevarra.
Furthermore, Guevarra explained that from the DOJ’s perspective, the NBI acting independently would build a faster case. Currently, the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office determined the evidence presented by the PNP was insufficient.
As such, no complaints may be filed against the 11 suspects in the case accused of sexually abusing Christine Dacera. Because of this, the PNP was ordered to release the arrested suspects.
