ABS-CBN News Digital’s Ex-Chief Karen Gayle Puno-Igaya Passes Away
ABS-CBN News Digital’s former head Karen Gayle Puno-Igaya has passed away at the age of 44 after battling cancer.
Karen Puno’s husband Greg announced the untimely death of his beloved wife on Friday (January 29, 2021). The former head of Kapamilya network’s News Digital lost her battle with cancer after bravely fought for her life.
“It’s with the saddest heart that I regret to announce that Karen, my wife, best friend and partner has passed away. She fought bravely but ultimately she lost her battle with cancer on January 29, 2021,” Greg said.
Igaya’s family also invited the latter’s colleagues and friends for public viewing at Arlington Faith Chapel on Araneta Avenue in Quezon City on January 30 (Saturday) until February 1 (Monday).
Karen’s remain is scheduled to be cremated on Monday afternoon before it will be transferred in Cabanatuan City. The internment would be on February 4, 2021.
Puno-Igaya is the former head of ABS-CBN News Digital who lead the transformation of Kapamilya network into a more competitive news digital platforms before she retired in 2019. She joined ABS-CBN after her graduation in 1997.
The 44-year-old media employee becomes the head of ANC business operations and mastered the technical operations of broadcast production before acquiring the position as ABS-CBN News Digital head in 2014.
