“Yu Yu Hakusho” was about to get a live action adaptation
Batang ‘90s would have something to look forward to as the 1990 Japanese manga “Yu Yu Hakusho” was about to get a live action adaptation.
As announced in a statement released today, December 16, 2020, Netflix would be producing the live action adaptation of a television series “Yu Yu Hakusho”, or “Ghost Fighter” as it was more popularly known in the Philippines.
“Yu Yu Hakusho” was created by Yoshihiro Togashi — who was also the creator of “Hunter X Hunter” — and was made into an anime series in 1992 and aired on television until 1995.

The story followed a high school student and a troublemaker Yusuke Urameshi (Eugene in the PH dub version of the series) who constantly got into fights.
One day, he died while saving a young boy from an oncoming truck.
As he tried to cope with the idea he’s now a spirit, he met a kimono clad woman who introduced herself as Botan (Charlene in the PH dub version of the series), his guide to the spirit world.
Botan informed him that there’s no place for him in either heaven or hell because no one expected a teen delinquent like him to sacrifice his own life just to save someone else.
He was then offered a chance to return to the human world if he passed several challenges. Once he did, he’s revived much to the surprise of everyone.
However, Yusuke must now take on the responsibilities of an “Underworld Detective” and must solve problems plaguing the human and the spirit world.

For now, there were no further details on the said project other than Netflix planning to release the film series worldwide.
With this, fans — especially Batang ’90s — were going to have to wait a while for Yusuke (Eugene), Kurama (Dennis), Hiei (Vincent), and Kuwabara (Alfred) to get into action once more.
