Woman Surgery On Butterfly To Reattach Broken Wings Goes Viral
WOMAN DOES SURGERY ON BUTTERFLY – With zero surgery experience, a woman successfully reattached a butterfly’s wings with precision.
Romy McCloskey went viral after she successfully did surgery on a monarch butterfly. However, McCloskey isn’t even part of the medical industry. Instead, she had experience with stitching intricate embroidery designs for her costumes.

Butterflys are one of the Earths most adored creatures. As such, for many cultures, the butterfly symbolizes prosperity and peace. But, for McCloskey, the butterfly had a more sentimental value.
According to an article from Thinking Minds, Romy had a love for butterflies because of her mother who unfortunately lost a hard-fought battle with cancer. Romy said her mother’s last words were:
“Romy, don’t worry. Whenever you see butterflies, just know it’s me checking in on you to let you know I’m OK, and that I love you“.
Ever since, her mother’s words remained true in her heart. So, every time she sees a caterpillar, she’d take it inside to help it safely blossom into a butterfly away from predators.
But, one day, she noticed a monarch butterfly emerge from its cocoon with a broken wing. So, the professional costume designer decided to fix the wings herself by hand.

Once the preparations were done, Romy managed to attach a donor wing to her “patient” using a small amount of contact cement on a toothpick. Afterward, she dusted the wing with a talcum powder to prevent any accidental sticking.

Finally, once the surgery was done, she even helped the butterfly fly for the first time in her garden.
