Sinovac Requested To Not Release Full Trial Results Of COVID-19 Vaccine
SINOVAC – A health official from Sao Paulo said Sinovac requested not to release the results of its full COVID-19 vaccine trial.
Recently, test results from the CoronaVac COVID-19 Vaccine developed by Sinovac displayed an efficacy of 50-90% in trials from Brazil. Furthermore, the full results of the trials are set to be released on January 7 of 2021.
Along with this, a report from Reuters said that the results of these trials are only exclusive to Sao Paulo state’s Butantan Institute of a biomedical research center. Additionally, the research center and Sinovac made an agreement to produce the vaccine said health secretary Jean Gorinchteyn.
According to Gorinchteyn, the first trials of the vaccine were found to have above 50% efficacy, the minimum requirement from the World Health Organization (WHO). However, it also only scratched below 90% efficacy in some tests.
As per the article, at Sinovac’s request, the Sao Paulo Health Department had yet to receive Sinovac’s full trial results. Moreover, he said the the company would review the data first before publishing the final results.
On the other hand, Sinovac’s vaccine showed a 91.25% efficacy in Turkey. However, no results have been published so far.
