Philippines Plans To Import Three Chinese COVID-19 Vaccines In 2021

COVID-19 VACCINE – According to the country’s vaccine czar, the Philippine government plans to import three Chinese vaccines for the new coronavirus.

During a virtual press briefing with Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. stated that the Philippines was planning on getting Sinovac, Sinopharm, and CanSino.

With powerhouse countries such as the U.K. and the U.S. having priority over Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine, the Philippine government said it would most likely look to China for a vaccine. Furthermore, the vaccine czar mentioned that procurement of the vaccine may start in Q1 or in the middle of the year.

Yes, actually ‘yung Cansino kasama sa [kino-consider] natin ‘yan, dahil kasi magkakaroon rin sila ng clinical trial. Ang pinaka-ano kasi, ‘yung pinaka-advance na nag-submit ng kanilang clinical trials, ‘yung Sinovac and I think ‘yung Sinopharm, we need to require them to submit ‘yung mga requirements.

Additionally, the Philippine Ambassador to China Jose Santiago Sta. Romana, said that the embassy was already coordinating with Sinopharm. As per the article, over a million people have already been immunized with Sinopharm’s vaccine.

However, in Peru, clinical trials for Sinopharm’s COVID-19 vaccine was suspended after a patient developed neurological issues.
