Presidential spokesman Harry Roque expressed hope in welcoming New Year.
Presidential spokesman Harry Roque recently expressed his renewed hope, inspiration, and courage in welcoming the New Year while bringing the valuable memories and lessons of 2020.
Roque on Thursday said in his New Year’s message that the challenges of 2020 had been daunting but emphasized the resilient spirit of Filipinos that aided the nation to fight and carry on.
The Philippines had been beset by catastrophic events such as eruption of Taal Volcano, coronavirus pandemic, immense flooding, and strong typhoons.
“Let us therefore make Year 2021 as a year of healing, recovery and bouncing back. Together and united, we will heal and recover as one,” Roque said.

Roque also highlighted that the sectoral and geographical priorities for the country’s COVID-19 vaccination program were already identified.
He added that the Philippines had also ramped up negotiations and discussions with vaccine makers, and tripartite agreements with the government, allied governments, and private sector.
“Following the Philippine National Vaccine Roadmap, the earliest roll out of a vaccine is expected in the first quarter of next year. We are indeed on track and this gives us a sense of optimism,” Roque said
Moreover, Roque said that they hoped to see an end to the coronavirus pandemic and to continue the pursuit for a stronger and healthier country, which would only be realized if the Philippine government and citizens would work together in order to achieve the said goal.
