Palace Gives Statement On Police Officer Who Killed Unarmed Neighbors
PALACE GIVES STATEMENT – The Malacañang Palace gave their statement regarding Police Officer, Jonel Nuezca, the cop who killed Sonya and Frank Gregorio.
Following the gruesome incident that transpired, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque emphasized that Nuezca should be punished for his actions. According to Roque, Duterte does not tolerate such acts from uniformed officials.
As the incident gained traction, netizens were afraid that even with the hard video evidence against the cop, he’d still get “special treatment”. Based on an article from GMA, Roque said:
“Bakit ho poprotektahan ni Presidente ‘yan, hindi naman po ‘yan service-related. Iyan po ay pribadong bagay. Nagkataon lang pulis siya pero kinakailangan siyang managot“
Roque emphasized that this case would be treated as another murder case wherein an investigation would be held. Additionally, he said that the justice system would definitely punish the officer “no ifs, no buts”.
Nuezca shot Sonya and Frank Gregorio in broad daylight in Paniqui, Tarlac despite knowing that the was being recorded on video. After he shot the victims twice, Nuezca fled the scene and later surrendered himself to the authorities.
