Margaret Keenan, 90, received first COVID-19 vaccine in UK
Margaret Keenan, 90, became the first patient in a Western country to receive an approved COVID-19 vaccine from Pfizer and BioNTech.
This, as Britain officially rolled out the jointly-developed COVID-19 vaccine from Pfizer and BioNTech in the biggest vaccination drive in its history.
In a report on Manila Bulletin, Keenan received the COVID-19 vaccine in front of cameras at a hospital in the central English city of Coventry.
Keenan was a former jewelry shop worker who had two (2) children and four (4) grandchildren.
According to her, she felt so privileged to be the first person who vaccinated against COVID-19. Keenan, who will turn 91 next week, said that it was “the best early birthday present” for her.
“My advice to anyone offered the vaccine is to take it. If I can have it at 90 then you can have it, too,” Keenan said.
As per the report, a second dose of COVID-19 vaccine was required in 21 days after the first dose.
