Firecracker Manufacturers Should Search for New Livelihood, Malacañang Palace Says
Malacañang Palace advised the firecracker manufacturers to find a new source of income due to the possible ban of firecrackers next year.
Earlier, President Rodrigo Duterte announced that he is planning to declare a total ban on use of firecrackers. He also considered the nationwide ban of fireworks in 2021, which is similar to the policy he implemented in Davao City.
Mr. Duterte plans to implement the total firecracker ban by mid-2021 or by December next year. The proposed law will surely affect the livelihood of thousands of Filipino firecracker manufacturers.
On Tuesday (December 8, 2020), Presidential spokesman Harry Roque told the firecracker makers to look for another livelihood as President Duterte mulls to declare a total ban on the sparkly pyrotechnics.
“Kumbaga, binigyan na ng warning ng Presidente, humanap na kayo ng ibang hanapbuhay dahil sa susunod na taon magkakaroon na tayo ng absolute firecracker ban,” Roque said.
