Australia and China would give COVID-19 vaccine to the Philippines, according to vaccine czar Galvez.
Vaccine czar Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr. on Monday announced in a meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte that Australia and China would give COVID-19 vaccine to the Philippines.
“Maganda po na yung mga bansa ay nakabili ng more than their population and they are more than wiling to share it with us, particularly ang Australia at ang China po. Nakausap na po namin si (Chinese) Ambassador Huang Xilian. They might be able to give some, contribute…ngayon po on-going ang negotiation namin sa kanila,” Galvez said.
On the other hand, President Duterte was confident that there would be no “kickbacks” and that the government’s transaction would be clean.

He denied that the government was neglecting the rich who also needed the COVID-19 vaccine, adding that the government’s plan would still prioritize frontliners and the poor.
In addition, President Duterte said that he had no intention of giving those involved in the illegal drugs trade.
“Iyong nagyaman, iyong mahirap na nagyaman sa droga, ang injection ninyo sa totoo lang, rabis. Ipakagat ko sayo sa aso,” President Duterte said.
The President also ordered the use of vacant hotels, motels, and inns in order to accommodate other COVID-19 patients.
He also assured that the facilities to be used in hotels, motels, and inns will be decontaminated.
