Pasig City Bikers Exempted from Wearing Face Shields Due to Possible Danger
The bikers in Pasig City are exempted from wearing face shields when riding within the city considering its danger to cyclists.
Earlier this week, the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) announced that they would require the public to wear face shields when going outside of their houses.
Previously, the Philippine government require the Filipinos to wear face masks and face shields when entering establishment and when riding public utility vehicles. The measure aims to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus disease.
On Saturday (December 19, 2020), The Facebook page “Pasig Transport” announced that bikers would not be required to wear face shields when biking. The order came from the Pasig City Government’s City Transport Development and Management Office.
The agency explained that most bikers revealed that wearing face shields while biking is dangerous. Face shields could cause breathing difficulty and distorted view when the visor moist.
