Maine Mendoza had recently recalled how her career started and how she unexpectedly rose to fame because of her dubbed videos.
This, as Maine was asked by the hosts about her shot to fame via her viral Dubsmash videos in November 14, 2020’s Bawal Judgmental segment on Eat Bulaga.
According to her, she didn’t expect to be in the entertainment world but she’s very grateful that the Lord brought her to the industry.
“Kasi wala naman nag-expect, kahit naman ako hindi ko rin inakala na mapupunta ako dito pero nakakatuwa na ito ‘yung plano sa akin ni Lord,” Maine said.

Maine added that she originally kept her Dubsmash account private, but she decided to share her dubbed videos to the public after her friends found her dubbed videos hilarious.
In addition, Maine — known as “Yaya Dub” at that time — said that she wasn’t ashamed anymore because she felt weird because Dubsmash videos were mostly cute at that time, adding that she just thought of uploading more dubbed videos.
Moreover, Maine admitted that she’s also a target of bashing online, saying that she can’t avoid those who said a lot — both good and bad.
“Mas marami siyempre ‘yung mabuti na nangyari sa buhay ko. Alam ng lahat ‘yun,” Maine said.
