Immigration Airport Personnel ‘No Vacation Leave’ During Holiday Season, According to Bureau of Immigration
The Bureau of Immigration announced that its airport personnel will be prohibited to take vacation leave during the holiday season.
On Wednesday (November 18, 2020), the Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said that Immigration port personnel would be prohibited to take vacation leaves starting December 1 until January 15, 2021.
The Immigration Bureau wants to ensure that they can provide enough service for the travelers during Christmas season. BI port operations division chief Candy Tan said that the prohibition of taking leaves cover all immigration employees in various parts of the country.
Here is the list of airports covered by the new policy:
- Ninoy Aquino International Airport
- Mactan Cebu Airport
- Clark Airport
- Pampanga Airport
- Kalibo
- Iloilo
- Davao
- Laoag
- Zamboanga international seaport
The bureau expects a slight to moderate increase in the numbers of passengers in various regions across the world amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“Thus, we are confident that the number of immigration officers currently deployed at the ports are enough to facilitate the efficient conduct of immigration formalities for arriving and departing passengers,” Morente said.
BI records only 3.5 million passengers who entered the Philippines from January to September 2020, which is much lower compared to 13 million travelers last year.
