NTC issued a memorandum ordering telcos to be ready for Typhoon “Rolly”
The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) on Friday ordered all public telecommunications companies to be ready for Typhoon “Rolly”.
As reported today by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the center of the eye of the typhoon was likely to make landfall over the Aurora-Quezon area on the evening of November 1, 2020, or on early morning of November 2, 2020.
Aside from that, PAGASA also said that Signal No. 3 and 4 may be raised in several areas, while acknowledging that there’s a chance of typhoon “Rolly” becoming a “super typhoon”.

In a memorandum signed by Commissioner Gamaliel A. Cordoba, the NTC ordered telecommunications organizations and companies to ensure that there were sufficient number of technical and support personnel and standby generators with extra fuel, tools, and spare equipment in areas forecasted to be affected by the incoming typhoon.
NTC stressed that telcos were also ordered to preposition mobile cell sites in affected regions, adding that these should be made ready for deployment anytime.
“You are reminded of your responsibility to submit reports to the Commission of the status of your respective network and facilities” NTC said in a memo.
Meanwhile, Aboitiz InfraCapital said that the company had partnered with DITO Telecommunity and Globe Telecom for small cell site deployment.
