The total number of coronavirus cases in the Philippines already reached 314,079 with over 2,400 newly-reported cases, according to the Department of Health (DOH).
This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. today, October 1, 2020.
According to its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #201 dated October 1, 2020, the Department of Health reported 2,415 newly-reported COVID-19 cases, wherein 2,010 out of 2,415 were recorded as “fresh” cases — reported cases occurred within the recent 14 days.
This brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 314,079.
Since September 11, the Department of Health didn’t report the number of operational laboratories who successfully submitted their data to the COVID-19 Data Repository System as well as the total number of operational laboratories. However, the Department of Health on Thursday reported that seven operational laboratories failed to submit their data to the CDRS.

The Department of Health also reported 54,294 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #201 dated October 1, 2020.
Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of October 1 only: Metro Manila with 930 new cases, Cavite with 238 new cases, Rizal with 128 new cases, Laguna with 123 new cases, and Negros Occidental with 103 new cases.
Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health had recorded 771 newly-reported recoveries and 59 newly-reported fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 254,223 and coronavirus deaths to 5,562.
