The Department of Health (DOH) had recorded 3,139 newly-reported coronavirus cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. of October 16, 2020.
This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of today.
According to its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #216 dated October 16, 2020, the Department of Health reported 3,139 newly-reported COVID-19 cases, wherein 2,023 out of 3,139 were recorded as “fresh” cases — reported cases occurred within the recent 14 days.
This brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 351,750.
Since September 11, the Department of Health didn’t report the number of operational laboratories who successfully submitted their data to the COVID-19 Data Repository System as well as the total number of operational laboratories. However, the Department of Health on Friday reported that 15 operational laboratories failed to submit their data to the CDRS.

The Department of Health also reported 50,354 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #216 dated October 16, 2020.
Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of October 16 only: Metro Manila with 1,003 new cases, Cavite with 206 new cases, Rizal with 175 new cases, Laguna with 138 new cases, and Iloilo with 126 new cases.
Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health had recorded 786 newly-reported recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 294,865. Also, the Department of Health recorded 34 newly-reported fatalities, bringing the total number of coronavirus deaths to 6,531.
