Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle on Sunday celebrated mass at the Manila Cathedral for the first time since recovering from coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Caloocan Bishop Pablo Virgilio David, the acting president of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines, previously said that Cardinal Tagle may have infected COVID-19 either at the airport or in the plane he boarded going to Manila.

It was last September 23 when CBCP News reported that Cardinal Tagle recovered nearly two weeks after he had tested from coronavirus disease.

Pontificio Collegio Filippino (PCF) Rector Fr. Gregory Gaston said that Cardinal Tagle’s recovery was “a great joy for the whole Church”.

In a report on The Philippine Star, Cardinal Tagle said in his homily that he discouraged treating unexpected life events as “useless”. Cardinal Tagle also discouraged treating the elderly as a “burden”.
