Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov had tested positive for COVID-19
Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov on Sunday revealed that he had tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Borissov also said that his doctors recommended him that he would stay at his home for any treatment for the time being.
The head of Sofia health inspectorate said that Borissov, who met US Undersecretary of State for Economic Affairs Keith Krach on Friday, had informed the US Embassy in Sofia of the situation.
The government press office said that Borissov was able to carry out his duties and was also in constant contact with his ministers as well.
In a report on Reuters, Borissov and three cabinet ministers on Friday had self-isolated themselves following contact with a deputy minister who had tested positive for coronavirus disease.
Health authorities lifted Bulgarian Prime Minister’s quarantine late on Saturday after two negative results from COVID-19 tests, but then he had tested positive on Sunday.

“Although my quarantine was lifted, since Friday I have postponed all my meetings and planned public appearances for the coming days. After two PCR tests, as of today I am positive with COVID-19. I have a general malaise. For the moment, on the doctors’ discretion, I remain on home treatment,” Borissov said in a post on his official Facebook account.
It wasn’t immediately clear if he’s already receiving a specific treatment.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Kostadin Angelov on Facebook said that he’s self-isolating because he met the Bulgarian Prime Minister on Friday.
As per the report, Bulgaria had reported 1,043 new infections on Sunday. This brought the total number of COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria to 37,562.
