The total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines already reached over 122,000, according to the Department of Health (DOH) on Friday.
This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. of today, August 7, 2020.
According to DOH’s COVID-19 Case Bulletin #146 dated August 7, 2020, the Department of Health reported 3,379 new COVID-19 cases, which brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 122,754.
In addition, the Department of Health stated that the newly-confirmed cases on Friday were reported based on the total tests done by 89 out of 99 current operational laboratories. Since July 27, the DOH didn’t report the fresh and late cases in its case bulletin.

Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health reported 96 new recoveries and 24 additional fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 66,852 and total coronavirus deaths to 2,168.
In addition, the Department of Health reported 53,734 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #146 dated August 7, 2020.
Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of August 7 only: Metro Manila with 1,846 new cases, Rizal with 314 new cases, Laguna with 276 new cases, Cavite with 145 new cases, and Quezon with 66 new cases.
