The total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines already reached over 98,000, according to the Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday.
This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. of Saturday, August 1, 2020.
According to DOH’s COVID-19 Case Bulletin #140 dated August 1, 2020, the Department of Health reported 4,963 new COVID-19 cases, which brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 98,232.
In addition, the Department of Health stated that the newly-confirmed cases on Saturday were reported based on the total tests done by 74 out of 94 current operational laboratories. Since July 27, the DOH didn’t report the fresh and late cases in its case bulletin.

Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health also reported 93 new recoveries and 17 additional fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 65,265 and total coronavirus deaths to 2,039.
Moreover, the Department of Health reported 30,928 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #140 dated August 1, 2020.
The Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of August 1 only: Metro Manila with 2,667 new cases, Cavite with 405 new cases, Cebu with 355 new cases, Laguna with 324 new cases, and Rizal with 252 new cases.
