Rita Avila took to the image-sharing site, Instagram to defend celebrities who are brave enough to express their opinion.
The 52-year-old actress asserted that artists are also people who have the right to express their thoughts.
This is after her fellow artists received criticism for being open in giving their opinion on what is happening in the country today.
According to Rita Avila, it seems that we have lost our respect for each other.
The actress also reminded the people not to be blinded by the issues faced by our motherland.
Although she did not cite what specific issues that celebrities tend to react with, the country is facing lots of controversies today.
Among those is the government’s effort to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and the corruption existing in the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), which were among the talked about topics on social media.
