FDA had warned consumers against buying and using “misbranded” face masks.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had warned consumers against purchasing and using “misbranded” face masks that have labels printed in foreign characters.
This, as the Food and Drug Administration posted an advisory on its Facebook page. In its advisory, FDA Director General Dr. Eric Domingo had identified those misbranded face masks as Fu Le Bang Disposable Mask, Flag World Face Mask, and Mask.
The Food and Drug Administration said that the FDA had conducted its “post-marketing surveillance” and it verified that those products were being locally sold in the market.

Under the FDA Act of 2009, a device was considered as “misbranded” if any word, statement, or other information required were not prominently displayed or even understood by consumers.
The Food and Drug Administration said that all concerned establishments were warned against distributing, advertising, or selling those misbranded face masks.
In addition, the FDA Central Office had directed its regional field offices and its regulatory enforcement units as well as law enforcement agencies to make sure that those face masks were not sold in the local market.
Moreover, the Food and Drug Administration encouraged the Bureau of Customs to prevent the entry of those products.
