Phivolcs Records 3.4 Magnitude Earthquake in Davao Oriental
EARTHQUAKE – A 3.4 magnitude quake hit Governor Generoso in Davao Oriental, Phivolcs states.
In the Philippines, the agency that records the earthquakes jolting the different areas in the country is the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology. It is more commonly called as Phivolcs.
Every day, Phivolcs records several quakes in the country considering that it is lying along the Pacific Ring of Fire. Nations along the Pacific Ring of Fire are more prone to quakes.
Some quakes were hardly felt at all while others left damages in structures and lost of lives. Phivolvcs releases details such as the epicenter, the date and time, the depth of focus, the origin, and the magnitude of the quake.

Also, Phivolcs states in its bulletin whether or not damages and aftershocks are expected of a quake. Intensities felt in the different areas may also be recorded.
Recently, Davao Oriental was jolted by a 3.4 magnitude earthquake according to Phivolcs. It was located at 05.62°North, 126.88°East – 144 km South 38° East of Governor Generoso at 9:28 a.m. today.
The said quake was tectonic in origin and has a depth of 033 kilometers. According to Phivolcs, no damage nor aftershock is expected of the said quake. The agency also did not record intensities felt at the epicenter of the quake or its nearby areas.
