DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte revealed what his doctor told him about his Barrett’s esophagus.

Former Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte was already 71 years old when he came the 16th President of the Republic of the Philippines. He is the oldest person to have been elected as the Chief Executive of the country.

The President is also vocal about the several health conditions he is suffering from. He has acid reflux, Buerger’s disease, and Barrett’s esophagus among others.

The Barrett’s esophagus is a condition characterized by the thickening of the pink lining in the esophagus or the tube that connects the mouth and the stomach. It is caused by acid reflux.

In his latest public address, the President opened up about his health. He also revealed the pieces of advice he got from his doctors.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte revealed that he was told by his doctor that his Barrett’s esophagus is nearing stage 1 cancer. His doctor advised him to avoid consumption of drinks bad for the health.

Also, the President was told by his doctor to stop eating fatty food. Based on the report, his appetite is not that well anymore.

“Matagal na kami sa gobyerno, magpa-retire na lang, bakit pa namin pagsayangan? Kakaunting panahon na lang ang naiwan so walang — walang — walang ganang — wala nang ganang kumain,” the President said.

Previously, Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque has put down speculations about the President’s health. He assured that he is in good condition. Reportedly, the Court disapproves calls to publicize the medical records of the President stressing there’s no valid proof.
