DOH reported over 6,000 new COVID-19 cases in the Philippines.
The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday reported over 6,000 new COVID-19 cases in the Philippines, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to over 112,000.
This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. of today, August 4, 2020.
According to DOH’s COVID-19 Case Bulletin #143 dated August 4, 2020, the Department of Health reported 6,352 new COVID-19 cases, which brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 112,593.
In addition, the Department of Health stated that the newly-confirmed cases on Tuesday were reported based on the total tests done by 80 out of 94 current operational laboratories. Since July 27, the DOH didn’t report the fresh and late cases in its case bulletin.

Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health reported 240 new recoveries and 11 additional fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 66,049 and total coronavirus deaths to 2,115.
In addition, the Department of Health reported 44,429 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #143 dated August 4, 2020.
Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of August 4 only: Metro Manila with 3,139 new cases, Laguna with 592 new cases, Cavite with 550 new cases, Rizal with 277 new cases, and Cebu with 261 new cases.
