The total number of coronavirus cases in the Philippines already reached 197,164 with almost 3,000 newly-reported cases, according to the Department of Health (DOH).
This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. today, August 25, 2020.
According to its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #164 dated August 25, 2020, the Department of Health reported 2,965 newly-reported COVID-19 cases, which brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 197,164.
In addition, the Department of Health stated that the newly-confirmed cases on Tuesday were reported based on the total tests done by 86 out of 109 current operational laboratories. Moreover, 2,434 out of 2,965 newly-reported cases occurred within the recent 14 days — from August 12 to 25.

In addition, the Department of Health reported 61,730 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #164 dated August 25, 2020.
Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of August 25 only: Metro Manila with 1,575 new cases, Negros Occidental with 237 new cases, Laguna with 151 new cases, Cavite with 129 new cases, and Batangas with 95 new cases.
Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health had recorded 368 newly-reported recoveries and 34 newly-reported fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 132,396 and total coronavirus deaths to 3,038.
