The total number of coronavirus cases in the Philippines already reached 164,474 with over 3,300 newly-reported cases, according to the Department of Health (DOH) on Monday.
This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. today, August 17, 2020.
According to its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #156 dated August 17, 2020, the Department of Health reported 3,314 newly-reported COVID-19 cases, which brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 164,474.
In addition, the Department of Health stated that the newly-confirmed cases on Monday were reported based on the total tests done by 91 out of 105 current operational laboratories. Moreover, 2,854 out of 3,314 newly-reported cases occurred within the recent 14 days — from August 4 to 17.

In addition, the Department of Health reported 49,034 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #156 dated August 17, 2020.
Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of August 17 only: Metro Manila with 1,918 new cases, Laguna with 274 new cases, Cavite with 219 new cases, Rizal with 118 new cases, and Bulacan with 105 new cases.
Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health had recorded 237 newly-reported recoveries and 18 newly-reported fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 112,759 and total coronavirus deaths to 2,681.
