The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday reported 6,216 new coronavirus cases in the Philippines, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to over 153,000.
This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. today, August 14, 2020.
According to its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #153 dated August 14, 2020, the Department of Health reported 6,216 new COVID-19 cases, which brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 153,660.
In addition, the Department of Health stated that the newly-confirmed cases on Friday were reported based on the total tests done by 98 out of 103 current operational laboratories. Moreover, 4,973 out of 6,216 newly-reported cases occurred within the recent 14 days – from August 1 to 14.

Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health reported 1,038 new recoveries and 16 additional fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 71,405 and total coronavirus deaths to 2,442.
In addition, the Department of Health reported 79,813 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #153 dated August 14, 2020.
Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of August 14 only: Metro Manila with 3,848 new cases, Laguna with 302 new cases, Rizal with 242 new cases, Cavite with 240 new cases, and Bulacan with 178 new cases.
