The Department of Health (DOH) had recorded 4,339 newly-reported coronavirus cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. of August 20, 2020.
This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. today.
According to its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #159 dated August 20, 2020, the Department of Health reported 4,339 newly-reported COVID-19 cases, which brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 178,022.
In addition, the Department of Health stated that the newly-confirmed cases on Thursday were reported based on the total tests done by 100 out of 109 current operational laboratories. Moreover, 3,213 out of 4,339 newly-reported cases occurred within the recent 14 days — from August 7 to 20.

In addition, the Department of Health reported 61,025 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #159 dated August 20, 2020.
Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of August 20 only: Metro Manila with 2,590 new cases, Laguna with 223 new cases, Cavite with 155 new cases, Cebu with 128 new cases, and Rizal with 109 new cases.
Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health had recorded 727 newly-reported recoveries and 88 newly-reported fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 114,114 and total coronavirus deaths to 2,883.
