Zindzi Mandela had tested positive for COVID-19 on the day she died according to her son.
While waiting for the autopsy result to arrive, Zindzi Mandela had tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on the day she died according to her son.
This, as Zondwa Mandela, the son of Zindzi Mandela, told SABC that his mother had tested positive for coronavirus disease, but her COVID-19 test result didn’t mean that his mother died due to complications.
Zindzi on Friday (Central African Time) was laid to rest at the Fourways Memorial Park in South Africa.
In a report on SABC, Zindzi was buried next to her mother Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, adding that the said burial also took place on the day before the birthday of her father, late President Nelson Mandela.

The Mandela family previously released a statement saying that it’s with great sadness for them that they announced the death of “Mama” Zindzi, adding that she was survived by her children and her grandchildren.
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa also released his statement saying that he’s “deeply saddened” by Zindzi’s death, adding that he offered his deep condolences to Zindzi’s bereaved family as the office of the President mourned the passing of what he described Zindzi as “a fearless political activist” who became a leader in her own right.
