Over 4,000 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the Philippines, according to DOH.
The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday reported over 4,000 new COVID-19 cases in the Philippines, which brought the total number of cases to over 93,000.
This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. of Friday, July 31, 2020.
According to DOH’s COVID-19 Case Bulletin #139 dated July 31, 2020, the Department of Health reported 4,063 new COVID-19 cases, which brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 93,354.
In addition, the Department of Health stated that the newly-confirmed cases on Friday were reported based on the total tests done by 74 out of 91 current operational laboratories. Since July 27, the DOH didn’t report the fresh and late cases in its case bulletin.

Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health also reported 165 new recoveries and 40 additional fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 65,178 and total coronavirus deaths to 2,023.
Moreover, the Department of Health reported 26,153 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #139 dated July 31, 2020.
The Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of July 31 only: Metro Manila with 2,267 new cases, Cebu with 654 new cases, Laguna with 200 new cases, Rizal with 123 new cases, and Cavite with 117 new cases.
