DOH reported over 2,400 new coronavirus cases in the Philippines.
The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday reported over 2,400 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the Philippines as of July 5, 2020.
This, as the Department of Health reported 2,434 new coronavirus cases wherein 1,147 were classified as “fresh” cases and the remaining 1,287 were classified as “late” cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 44,254 as of 4:00 p.m. of July 5, 2020.

Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health also reported 489 additional recoveries and seven new coronavirus deaths. This brought the total number of recoveries to 11,942 and total fatalities to 1,297.
For “fresh” cases, 440 COVID-19 patients were from Metro Manila, 364 were from Central Visayas, seven repatriates, and the remaining 336 came from different areas in the Philippines. On the other hand, for the “late” cases, 629 COVID-19 patients were from Metro Manila, 238 were from Central Visayas, and the remaining 420 were from different areas in the Philippines.
According to the Department of Health, the fresh cases recorded on Sunday were based on its test results released to patients within the last three days, while the late cases recorded were based on the test results released to patients four days ago or more.
