The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday reported over 1,500 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the Philippines as of today, July 7, 2020.
This, as the Department of Health reported 1,540 new coronavirus cases wherein 993 were classified as “fresh” cases and the remaining 547 were classified as “late” cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 47,873 as of 4:00 p.m. of July 7, 2020.

Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health also reported 201 additional recoveries and six new coronavirus deaths. This brought the total number of recoveries to 12,386 and total fatalities to 1,309.
Moreover, the Department of Health reported 34,178 total active cases as of 4:00 p.m. of July 7, 2020.
For “fresh” cases, 428 COVID-19 patients were from Metro Manila, 109 were from Central Visayas, and the remaining 456 came from different areas in the Philippines.
For the “late” cases, 191 COVID-19 patients were from Metro Manila, 65 were from Central Visayas, and the remaining 291 were from different areas in the Philippines.
According to the Department of Health, the fresh cases recorded on Tuesday were based on its test results released to patients within the last three days, while the late cases recorded were based on the test results released to patients four days ago or more.
